Privacy Policy — Gmail to PDF
Last updated: 2026. Applies to the “Gmail to PDF” Chrome extension and this website.
What the extension does
When you ask it to export, Gmail to PDF reads the email or conversation that is already
open on mail.google.com in your browser, builds a PDF document locally, and
hands the file to your browser’s download manager.
Data we collect
None. The extension has no analytics, no telemetry and no remote logging. It does not collect or transmit personal data, message content, addresses or file names.
Permissions and why they are needed
- storage — remembers your export preferences on your device.
- offscreen — runs the local PDF engine, which needs a DOM.
- contextMenus — adds the right-click “Save as PDF” entries.
- host access to mail.google.com — required to read the email you explicitly asked to export. The content script runs nowhere else.
- downloads (optional) — only requested if you turn on “Ask where to save each file”. It is used to show the save dialog and can be revoked at any time.
Network requests
The extension does not call any server of ours. The only network activity is your browser
re-requesting inline images from mail.google.com (using your existing Gmail
session) so they can be embedded in the PDF. Nothing leaves your device.
Data retention and removal
Exported PDFs are saved wherever your browser saves downloads. Preferences live in Chrome’s extension storage and are removed when you uninstall the extension.
Children’s privacy
The extension is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone.
